Work in politics or government may involve supporting the campaign to elect a political figure to alter policies among a community or to help run a government office or agency.

Testimonials

I spent the summer working in finance at City Hall. The City Counselor and his staff worked closely with me in showing me how a city budget works. This was perfect for me because I love finance and government
- Adam
I was lucky enough to work for a State Senator. At the state senator’s office, I helped with constituent services-housing, transportation, research on legislation and even looked into the case of mayoral control of public schools. My highlight was getting to sit in on a Senate session
- Matt
My internship allowed me to work for a State Assemblyman. I prepared leaflets, constituent responses, and organized a green bag campaign for the State Assemblyman’s office. I got to observe the small details of the political process and the big picture too
- Darnel
I worked at a State Senator’s office. I went on the Senator’s public television show and commented on Mayoral control. This was a culmination of the work I had been doing to address important issues in Harlem’s schools. I also got to write letters to constituent from the Senator. I know now that I want to be a Public Defender
